Miss Müller is 86 years old.
She has been in concentration camp since she was 19 years old. but before that she had to work in forced labor.
She knew that the Germans where taking Polish people of the streets to work in Germany so she tried to stay at home as much as possible. After a while, a German girl which was here friend, asked her to go with her to the movies. But when they got inside it was a trap from her friend. She had betrayed her for some extra money and she was taking by the German soldiers. At the railway station, they where put into a garage, untill it was fill enough. Then they got onto a transport while the mothers tried to get the children out of there.
First she was sent to a German farmers family to work there. They where lined up in Breslau, and then the formers could choose a girl that they wanted to work for them. Family Franke choose her, because she had such nice hands, not like a worker as the propaganda machine of the Third Reich was telling. She got beaten there and wasn't allowed to take breaks, the same counted for washing also that wasn't allowed.
After a while she was fed up with it and took off her clothes and tried to run away, so she went to the railway station. But in a small town everybody knows everybody, so it was soon known that she ran away. Somebody in the village saw her standing at the railway station waiting for the train and she was instead picked up by the police.
She was sentenced to a half year in prison because of that, after her release she was send to Ravensbruck, a womens concentrationcamp.
She has been in three camps. At first at Ravensbrück (nr. 77000), at last at Bergen-Belsen.She even had worked in an ammofactory, here she got the number 9502. During her time there she was also sometimes used for cleaning the officers homes, which was a great threath for her. When she was cleaning there she could empty the bins and eat the food that was in there, it was much more and better then she got from the guards after work. In Ravensbrück she walked into a barrack and she found women whose legs where cut off, only for medical trails. In the wounds they injected poison.
Once during a selection of the SS she had to go into a cellar, where the girls had to walk naked with there arms spread and walk around a table, the SS man pointed out some women who where taken to the brothel. She felt very lucky that she wasn't picked out, because it was know that when the SS where done with these girls they where just killed. Frau
Muller was picked to help build houses and the roads on the terrain for the officers which was very hard work. During here time there she met a French grandmother and her grandson. She asked him why he was crying all the time and she anwserd because his parents where gassed. Later when she was in the British Hospital at the Bergen Belsen concentrationcamp she saw the boy again and his grandmother was also gassed. He was the only survivor of his family, only 9 years old.
She only survived because she was young.
After the war she couldn't do anything. She is infected with typhus. She is weak, but she wants to go home. She has been in hospital for a long time. After that there was a problem that nobody wanted to ''have'' the Jews back, so she had to stay for a long time in the DP-Camp (Displaced Persons). She had an headache so bad she couldn't sleep, she could only think about the concentration camp, even untill this day. It feels like it was yesterday.
Her youth is destroyed at the concentration camp but during her time there the little things gave hope such like transports to a working camp when she thought she was being killed.
It was a hard time after the 2nd world war. In Germany there where Nazi's on high positions everywhere. She asked the gouverment to pay here because she lived in the camps, the only answer she recieve was like: ''We where at war.''
Because she didn't got any money she had to make her own clothes out of parachutes and soks for instance and make a living for herself in her case at the black market dealing cigarettes.
After the war she stays in Germany, but here friends went to Canada. She wanted to stay in German because she didn't have contact with here mother and she always said she wanted to be able to walk back to home (Poland) iff neccessary. She had said that she would walk to here home.
From Canada she couldn't walk to here home. But she was affraid to go to Polen, because the Sovjets were as bad as the Nazi's. After all she decide to visit Polen.
Later she would stay in Germany because she married a German man.
She married him because she tought, not all Germans where as bad as Hitler. She even knew this man was to joung to serve at the German front. So he couldn't be a German soldier at the time of the war and he couldn't be the one that shot her father.
After three years she found here mother and sisters. It took just a long time because here mother had moved houses.
For seven years she told her family she married a British man. But after these seven years she finally told the truth. She told her family here husband was exactly German. The family react well, the German man, together with miss Müller, had even gave them al the money they saved. In total they saved 35.000 Reichsmark, enough to buy a house, but they dicide to bring it to her femaily in Polen.
Miss Müller's family does call him also Benedictus the 16th (named after the pope), because he was such a good man.
She still got problems to trust people, but she believes in a better future.
She also teach here childeren everything, because she never has the chance to learn. In this way, she hopes that she can help that this will never happen again and that the stories won’t be forgotten.
